What is this all about?
It seemed to us that while many people were taking individual action to address
climate change, and to achieve sustainability, we were all relying on
government, the media, and big business, to tell us how we going.
This was leading to a very confusing set of messages and data, and frankly,
the companies able to pay for spin were getting their views heard in government
with little perspective on the community view.
So this web site is designed to show where Green Action is happening at community level.
And by showing a Green Action rating ( only 1-5 at this stage ) show how much people
had already managed to achieve in their homes and businesses.
The Green Rating is rudimentary at the moment for two reasons.
1 ) I did not want to put people off with too high a target
- it is hard enough paying for, and installing conservation measures.
2 ) I hope that Primary School children will use this site to map their own
school community. So the discussion of Green Actions rather than comprehensive
Green Ratings seems important at this stage. However, over time I intend to
expand the Green Action grid and accept a broader, more detailed Rating of Actions.
Special Projects and Locations
If you need to pin point a place that is not a house
- for example to map a rehabilitation project or wilderness location,
use the Locator Map to get an accurate Latitude and Longitude reading.
